inning to score the game’s only run.
R.J. Lis reached on a walk, was sacrificed to second, and scored on Ludwig’s
hit.
Chris Steger went 3-for-3 in the win.
Senior David Ahonen threw a three-hitter, striking out eight for the Blue Devils
(1-0).
“David had control of three pitches (fast, curve, change) out there,” Victor
coach Sean Rucker said. “He worked ahead of the hitters and was in command the
whole way through.”
Nolan Lasler threw four innings, striking out five for Arcadia (0-2).
“Anytime we can play a good Monroe County school and come out with a win I feel
good about it,” Rucker said
In Greece, the Blue Devils' Dan Ludwig ripped a double to score teammate R.J. Lis with the game's only run in the third inning of the non-leaguer. David Ahonen led Victor (1-0), tossing a complete game shutout, giving up three hits while striking out eight and walking three. Ludwig was 2-for-3 at the plate while teammate Chris Steger went 3-for-3.
"This was a good pitching performance from David," said Victor coach Sean Rucker. "Especially this early in the season. It was a tough day for hitters but Ludwig came through with a clutch hit for us when we needed it."
Nolan Lafler was the losing pitcher for G-A (0-2).

At the Walt Disney World World Series in Florida, Victor grabbed an early lead but was done in by the second inning when the Blue Devils allowed eight runs.
Dan Ludwig had a pair of hits and drove in a run for Victor, while R.J. Lis added a hit and an RBI.
For Northview, from Ohio, winning pitcher Brian Koehl went the distance, allowing three hits.

In Orlando at the Walt Disney Classic, Eric Povero tossed a complete game to get the Blue Devils back to .500. Povero gave up the six runs on four hits and three errors, while striking out eight and walking five.
Kreag Bradley led the Blue Devil bats, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles. David Ahonen, Dan Ludwig, Bucky Piper and Chris Steger each chipped in two hits, Ahonen with a double and Ludwig with a triple

Also in Orlando, David Ahonen tossed a complete game four-hitter as Victor defeated Garfield Heights.
Ahonen, who improved his record to 2-1, struck out eight and walked only one. Offensively, Dan Ludwig led the Blue Devils (3-1 overall) with a double and an RBI, while teammate Craig Bradley went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Caleb Stuart drove in two.

At Victor, the Blue Devils and the Panthers ended the first inning of their Finger Lakes Division I game tied 1-1. Victor then scored eight unanswered runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to pull away from the Panthers and claim the win.
Eric Povero led the Blue Devils from the mound, going six innings giving up two runs on three hits while striking out eight. Zach Brown came on in relief of Povero in the seventh and struck out six while closing the door on Geneva.
David Ahonen went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and four RBI for Victor (2-0 league, 5-2 overall), while teammate Dan Ludwig went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kreag Bradley also contributed for Victor, going 2-for-4.
Justin Merced absorbed the loss for Geneva (0-2, 0-6) while Torrell Northrup went 1-for-2 for the Panthers.
VICTOR — The Victor Blue Devil baseball team traveled to Greece Saturday to face the Greece Athena Trojans in a non-league game. Behind a combined effort on the mound form Caleb Stewart, Dan Ludwig and Zach Brown, the Blue Devils came away with a 9-3 win. Stewart was given the win in three innings of pitching.
After two scoreless innings Victor jumped on top with two runs in each of the third and fourth innings. They then went on to score one more in the fifth and four more in the sixth to cinch the win.
David Ahonen, finished 2-for-2 on the day including a double and two RBI, along with RJ Lis, and Brown each collected two hits apiece. Chris Steger and Bucky Piper also had a hand in the win for Victor (2-0 league, 6-2 overall) with each collecting two RBI.
“This was a good overall team effort,” said Victor coach Sean Rucker. “It was a great win beating a very good Monroe County team.”

David Ahonen gets the win as the Blue Devils take over first place.
VICTOR — The Canandaigua Braves were the early pacesetter in the Finger Lakes East Division I baseball race, but Victor — behind ace pitcher David Ahonen — had something to say about that Tuesday.
Ahonen pitched a five-hitter and the Blue Devils rallied for a 6-2 win.
Victor (3-0 league, 7-2 overall) led 1-0 before Canandaigua scored twice in the third inning. The Blue Devils, however, stormed right back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning and never trailed again.
Ahonen struck out five and walked none in the complete-game effort. He also helped himself at the plate with two hits. Chris Steger and R.J. Lis also had two hits each with both of Lis' being doubles.
Mike Pease took the loss for CA (3-1, 4-5) while Jordan Buck led the Braves bats with a pair of hits, including a double.

Dan Ludwig had a double and Zach Brown drove in three runs for Finger Lakes East Division I-leading Victor (4-0, 8-2).
For Mynderse (2-2, 4-5) Ryan Ellis had a triple.

Victor made the most of its chances with four first-inning runs. Zach Brown had

At Victor, the Blue Devils played errorless ball behind a four-hit complete-game performance from pitcher Caleb Stewart and came away with the Finger Lakes win. Stewart struck out six while giving up the Reds lone run in the fifth.
Senior Chris Steger led the Victor (5-0, 9-2) attack, going 2-for-4 while teammate David Ahonen nailed a double and ended up with three RBI for the game.
Nathan Hart recorded the loss for the Reds (1-5, 2-8) going five and two-thirds innings. He also was the Reds lead batter hitting a double for the teams lone RBI.

winners. Chris Steger also ripped a single and double.

In a non-leaguer at Victor, the Blue Devils, behind strong pitching from David Ahonen and clutching hitting, defeated the Little Irish.
Ahonen went 6 2/3 innings, giving up five hits while striking out six. He left the game with two outs in the top of the seventh and the bases loaded for reliever Eric Povero, who walked the first batter and then got the last out on a grounder to Zach Brown to end the game.
"David Ahonen pitched a great game," said Victor coach Sean Rucker. "Eric Povero then came in for Dave and got the job done in a tough situation in the seventh."
Scott Soltys led the Blue Devil bats going 2-for-3 with two doubles and had two-hit help from teammates Chris Steger and Dan Ludwig. Povero and R.J. Lis also had doubles for Victor (10-2 overall).
Ray Manioci took the loss for Aquinas (4-5) while teammate Alan Komorowski hit a double.

WATERLOO - Eric Povero took a shutout into the seventh inning for Victor and
struck out 13 batters for the game.
Victor's Kreag Bradley went 4-for-5 with a double. Bucky Piper added a pair of
hits.
Tony Bohrer singled twice for Waterloo, which used three walks and three singles
to score five seventh-inning runs.

VICTOR — In a Finger Lakes East baseball game at Victor Wednesday, the Blue Devils held Waterloo scoreless until the seventh inning and went on to win, 9-5.
Eric Povero captured the win for Victor (6-0 league,11-2 overall), scattering six hits, striking out 13 and walking three.
Craig Bradley led the Victor bats with a 5-for-5 effort that included two doubles and three RBIs. Teammate Bucky Piper was 2-for-3.
Waterloo is now 2-5, 3-6.

The Blue Devils improved their season’s record to 12-2 with a convincing 12-1 road win over Palmyra-Macedon on Friday. Caleb Stewart sealed the win for Victor with five solid innings.
Several Blue Devils players had big offensive days. Zach Brown and R.J. Lis each had four hits and four RBI and Bucky Piper and David Ahonen each had three hits with Ahonen adding a pair of RBI.
Dan Ludwig went 2-4 with two RBI in the win.
Pal-Mac (1-7 league, 1-11 overall) managed just four hits with Ron Moss and Chris Kurek each picking up one.
Victor is also 6-0 in the league.

In Rochester, David Ahonen, Dan Ludwig, and Zach Brown all combined to lead the Blue Devils to the non-league win over the Kings. Ahonen pitched a complete game, giving up the one run on three hits while striking out four and walking one.
"David Ahonen pitched a great game," said Victor coach Sean Rucker. "He did a good job of keeping the hitters off balance. Turning two double plays behind him also helped. This was a good non-league win for us."
Brown ended up going 3-for-4 with Ludwig 2-for-4. Ahonen also went 2-for-4 with one of the hits a triple.

PENN YAN—Eric Povero and Bucky Piper led visiting Victor past Penn Yan, 13-3.
Povero went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, and Piper 3-for-4 from the plate, with a double and four RBI.
The Mustangs were down by one run after the first inning, but Victor tacked on seven in the next two innings, and shut their opponents out from then on.
On 17 hits, Victor only made one error.
Caleb Stewart got the win for Victor (9-0 league, 15-2 overall), posting 11 strikeouts.
For Penn Yan, R.J Lis went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

At Newark, David Ahonen fired a five-hitter and had 12 strikeouts in leading the Blue Devils past the Reds. He aided his own cause at the plate by going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Bucky Piper went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Zach Brown was 3-for-5 with two RBI.
For the Reds, losing pitcher Nate Hart had two hits, including a double.
Victor remained undefeated in the league with an 11-0 record. The Devils are 17-2 overall. Newark is 3-7 in the league and 7-12 overall.

12 strikeout and went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to power the league
leaders.
Bucky Piper and Zach Brown also collected two hits and two RBIs for the Blue
Devils.

ROCHESTER - Caleb Stewart homered and drove in four runs as the Blue Devils
(18-2) routed the Knights.
Stewart also doubled in a three-hit day. David Ahonen doubled, singled twice and
knocked in three runs. Kreag Bradley tripled to head his three-hit performance.
Bucky Piper, Zach Brown and Chris Steger also had three hits; Piper drove in two
runs.
Dan Ludwig added a single, double and three RBIs.

At Geneva, the Panthers and Blue Devils battled through nine scoreless innings before creating some fireworks in the 10th.
In the top of the frame, Kreag Bradley singled. He tried to score on Dan Ludwig's double, but was thrown out at the plate on a relay by Lewis Diaz to catcher Greg DeFayette.
The Panthers responded in their half as Matt Reiner led off with a single. The next two Geneva batters also singled to load the bases. Terrell Northrup delivered the game-winning hit to score Reiner as he finished 3-for-5 in the game.
The loss was the Blue Devils (11-1) first in the league. Victor is 18-3 overall.
Geneva improved to 7-5 in the and 10-9 after starting the season 0-6.

GENEVA - Victor entered Thursday night's baseball
game at McDonough Park poised for its second straight 13-0 Finger Lakes East
campaign.
Geneva derailed those plans.
Adam Martin out dueled David Ahonen and Torrell Northrup knocked in the only run
in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Panthers a 1-0 victory.
Victor had won 26 straight league games since absorbing a 14-13, eight-inning
loss to Geneva on May 11, 2005.
Freshman Adam Martin helped Geneva (10-9, 7-5) gain momentum for the upcoming
sectional tournament. The left-hander scattered six hits in going the distance.
Northrup gave him the victory when he singled in Matt Reiners.
Reiners posted two of Geneva's 11 hits.
Kreag Bradley rapped two hits for Victor (18-3, 11-1). Dan Ludwig and Dave
Ahonen doubled.

In a key Finger Lakes East rivalry, the Blue Devils Caleb Stewart is hitting stride at the right time, having led visiting Victor to the win, pitching a four-hit shutout to put an exclamation point on another Blue Devil Finger Lakes East Championship.
“He did a nice job,” said Canandaigua coach Dale Werth of Stewart. “He pounded the strike zone and was very effective.”
Werth then went on to lament about what went wrong.
“We failed defensively behind Bobby (losing pitcher Robert Bradshaw) with four critical errors,” he said.
Offensively the Blue Devils were led by Dan Ludwig and Bucky Piper, who each had two hits apiece and one RBI apiece.
Teammates Scott Soltys, with a double, and Kreag Bradley, who managed to cross home plate three times, also had an offensive hand in the game. Bradshaw ended up garnering the loss for the Braves while Kevin Donk led the CA offense, going 2-for-3.

Hilton scored four times in the second inning and added three more in the top of the seventh to defeat Victor. Eric Povero struck out five and allowed four earned runs in a losing effort for Victor.
Chris Steger had two hits for the Blue Devils while Scott Soltys added a double.
Coleman, Schwind help Hilton beat Victor
(May 20, 2007) — Kevin Sullivan pitched five
innings, allowed five hits and walked two to lead host Hilton to a 7-2 upset of
Victor in non-league baseball Saturday.
The Cadets (15-5) scored four runs in the second on hits from Jake Coleman and
Jon Schwind. They then scored three runs in the seventh to take control.
"This was a great win," Hilton coach Jeff Murphy said. "We beat a great, well-coached team. Any time you can beat a 19-3 team you get a lot of momentum and now we're heading into sectionals."
David Ahonen had two hits for Victor (19-4), ranked third in the state in Class A.
