Varsity Coaching Staff 

Head Coach Sean Rucker

Coach Rucker has been the head varsity baseball coach at  VCS for 15 years. He teaches grades 9-12 physical education at VCS and has been at been with the District since 1995. 

He  holds a BS Degree in Health and Physical Education and a MS in Athletic Administration from Slippery Rock University. 

Coach Rucker played high school ball at East Rochester High School from 1984-88. After graduating from high school, he went on to play baseball at Slippery Rock University from 1989-93 where he received All-PSAC and All- North Atlantic Region honors as a pitcher. 

In addition to coaching at VCS Coach Rucker was also an Assistant Coach at Slippery Rock for 2 years and was Head Coach of the Victor American Legion team for one year.

Assistant Coach Geoff Mandile

Coach Mandile has been a Guidance Counselor at VCS since 1998.  

He holds a BS Degree in Sociology with concentrations in Criminal & Juvenile Justice and Clinical Sociology from Ithaca College.  He also holds a MS Degree in Counseling from the University of Rochester. 
   
Coach Mandile played high school ball at East Rochester High School from1984-89 and for the Brooke Shepard Legion team from 1987-90.  After graduating from high school he went on to play college ball at Ithaca College from 1990-94.
 

Coaching experience for Coach Mandile consists of two years as an Assistant Coach at Ithaca College and from 1995 to present as an Assistant Coach at VCS.  

 

Assistant Coach Ben Lanning

Coach Lanning beings his second  year as an assistant with the Victor Baseball program. He will work primarily with the varsity team on offense, however, he will work within the program as needed.

Prior to working with the Victor program, Coach Lanning worked for 13 seasons as the hitting instructor and assistant coach for the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers. Under his guidance, the Tigers had their most successful offensive season ever in 2006, setting a host of school records, including records for team batting average, at bats, runs, hits, RBIs, triples and total bases. These marks broke records that were previously set during Coach Lanning's tenure.

Coach Lanning played his high school baseball at Fairport prior to becoming a three-year baseball letter winner at the University of Rochester, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1994 and later earned his master’s degree in public health. During his time at the U of R, he also earned Co-SIDA Distrct 1 Academic All-American honors twice.

Currently a project manager with Merck and Co., Inc., he resides in Victor with his wife, Rebecca, daughter Rachael and son Matthew.

 

 

Junior Varsity Coaching Staff 

 
 

Head Coach Jeff Onze

 Coach Onze teaches Social Studies at VCS. He has been with the District for 8 years..  

He holds degrees from FLCC and Mary Washington College. 
   
Coach Onze played high school ball at Canandaigua Academy. After graduating from high school, he went on to play college ball at both FLCC and Mary Washington. While at FLCC, he was named to the Region III First Team.
Coaching experience for Coach Onze includes 8 years as JV Head Coach and Head Coach of the Victor American Legion team.

Family - Wife Erin and Daughters Elizabeth, Lauren and Emily.

 

Assistant J.V. Coach Willy Hillberg

Coach Hillberg is a volunteer coach in his 7th year at Victor Central Schools.

He was an employee at Eastman Kodak Company for 17 years and is now active in his 10th year as a youth ministries leader in the Victor area.

Willie lives in Bloomfield with his wife Holly and his dog Sadie

 

 

 

Assistant J.V. Coach Dave Cooley

Dave holds a Physical Education Bachelors degree from Florida International University, 1998.

Played high school ball at Section V Champion Waterloo High School from 1989-1993. After graduating from high school, he went on to play baseball at Monroe Community College earning Region III Pitching honors in 1995 for Champion Tribunes.  Moved on to FIU in Miami on Scholarship to play for Div 1 Golden Panthers.  1 year Independent Baseball for the Champion Minot Mallards of Prairie League, in 1998.

In addition to coaching at VCS, coaching Tball for Victor Community Baseball and Rochester NABA Champion Bulldogs.

Modified Coaching Staff

 Modified Coach Pat Lawley

Coach Lawley teaches 7th Grade Social Studies at the Victor Jr. High School.  

He holds a BS Degree in History Education from St. John Fisher College. 
   
Coach Lawley played high school ball at Barker Central School from 1987-90.  After graduating from high school, he went on to play college ball at Canisius College and St. John Fisher.
 

Coaching experience for Coach Lawley includes serving as the Assistant Varsity Coach at Barker Central and Livonia High School, Assistant JV Coach at VCS for two years and Head Coach of the VCS Modified Team for the past 8 years.

 Modified Coach Mike Ferreri

 

Coach Ferreri teaches Physical Education and Health at Victor Central Schools.  

He holds an MS degree in Athletic Administration from SUNY Brockport. 
   
Coach Ferreri played high school baseball at Kenmore East High School.  After graduating from high school, he went on to play college ball at SUNY Brockport.
 

Coaching experience for Coach Ferreri includes serving as the Assistant Varsity Coach at Kenmore East and SUNY Brockport, Coach of the Victor American Legion team and Head Coach of the VCS 7th Grade Modified Team for the past 6 years.

Coach Ferreri also serves as the Varsity Ice Hockey  Head Coach.
